Lets talk about one of THE most important vitamins for not only our skin, but our overall health. I know majority of the population has some sort of basic knowledge of the benefits of Vitamin C, especially when dealing with protecting ourselves from getting sick, am I right? If you're the small percentage who is not familiar with this info, I'm seriously impressed with how you managed to access the internet from the rock you're living under. Anyways, did you know that Ascorbic Acid (AKA Vitamin C), is one of the most protective and healing shields you can have on your skin? No? Then you better keep reading B, because you are about to be impressed, mmmk?

SO- Vitamin C basically acts as the body guard of our skin care by providing potent antioxidant protection (Click to read the importance of antioxidants!). It is SO important to protect our skin from free radicals because THAT plays a huge factor in what makes us dry and wrinkly… PASS. This heavenly vitamin is going to be extremely important when it comes to prolonging the aging process. How is vitamin C going to aid in age prevention you ask? Well, not only is it going to increase collagen production for more firm skin, but incorporating a “C” into your daytime routine is going to add further protection from UV rays, and we all know how CRUCIAL sun protection is! (Click here to read why sun protection plays a HUGE factor in anti-aging). Stop the neglect and start to protect, babes. I cannot stress enough that IT IS NEVER TOO EARLY!

Besides Vitamin C being the protector, it is also very healing to previous damage. For anyone dealing with hyper-pigmentation issues such as sun spots from sun damage, this vitamin has the ability to not only lighten and reduce the appearance of brown spots, but also prevent more from appearing. Speaking of lightening properties, Absorbic Acid also aids in reducing red marks from previous breakouts! That being said, Vitamin C is typically totally safe for acne-prone skin and often times, helpful in preventing and healing inflammation.
Now, before everyone goes pouring Sunny D or something dumb all over their face, remember, as always, proper product formulation and dilution DOES matter. Here are a few Vitamin C products that I believe in and love!
Basically, Vitamin C is going to be your BFF for replenishing dull, tired and aging skin. The vitamin, not the singer from the 90’s. Which by the way, I wonder how that whole “friends forever” thing worked out for her after graduation... I mean, come on, how could I write about Vitamin C and NOT incorporate this blast from the past.
