Detoxing the bod is like, so hott right now. Everyone is buzzing about different detox waters that curb your appetite and help you shed those pounds which is totally great, but what I find fascinating with detox water, is the amazing benefits some of these ingredients have on our skin! From Acne to Aging to Dry Skin, there is a magical infuser that you can add to your water to help! I know I joke about pizza and ice cream a lot, but I really do make sure to maintain a well rounded diet and consume necessary nutrients daily. I seriously notice a MAJOR change in my skin when I am slacking in the health department. It’s not cute. I can’t help that when I go to the fridge for a snack, the string cheese is calling my name louder than the apple is. I call celery crunchy water, so please, do not come to me for weight loss encouragement. One thing I am good at however, is drinking my daily smoothies and staying hydrated with nutrient infused water! I may not do it for the #FitLiFe benefits, but that’s because I am WAY more fixated on my skin. I do realize that what I consume internally affects my complexion and THAT is one of the main reasons I practice good nutrition. Call me vein, but come on, is it really SO wrong that I focus on being healthy for the beauty benefits? Ugh, whatever. It’s 2015 people, let me live my life!

-Lets talk detox waters-

I’m just going to assume that everyone has read my post on why consuming enough water is SO important in general and go on by saying that infusing that h2O makes it even MORE beneficial (and delicious, win win). Sipping infused water throughout the day, allows the nutrients to slowly but constantly be entering your body, minimizing the risk to release them too quickly through urine. It's basically like water on steroids. I don't know if that's an appropriate comparison but I don't care, everyone is too touchy these days. Here are some top water additions for beautiful skin, but definitly not all of them!

Lemon: Lemons are filled with Vitamin C which is an amazing vitamin for you skin. Lemon helps boost your immune system, and we all know how drab our skin looks when we’re feeling blue. Besides it already being a plus that this fruit is packed with so many antioxidants (which don’t forget, our skin loves), this feature also allows our skin to continue to rejuvenate which decreases our chances of age spots! DETOX BEFORE YOU BOTOX B*TCHES! Lemons are also extremely antibacterial so they are a great way to cut down toxins and kill germs before they decide to release through your skin!

Strawberries: Strawberries love your skin because they are filled with Vitamin C, Dietary Fibre and Folic Acid. Vitamin C in Strawberries tackle free radicals before they have the chance to destroy collagen and healthy skin cells. That’s what causes fine lines. Ew. Dietary Fibre is well, fiber. Without grossing anyone out… let’s pretend we’re not 5 and talk about how important it is to GO TO THE BATHROOM. We don’t need any backups people, the more regular our bowel movements are, the less chance toxins have to release through our face causing pimples! Last, Strawberries contain Folic Acid. People pay pretty good money for that shit so, take advantage. Folic Acid encourages cell regeneration and new beautiful little cell babies to be born. Let’s stay fresh peeps!

Cucumber: I’m not going to lie, I used to hate cucumbers. Unless they were pickled and sitting on my cheeseburger, I just was not interested. However, I really have learned to love cucumber water, and thank goodness for that, because it rocks your skins world. Cucumbers are filled with vitamins and minerals and most importantly, Silica. Silica is something we are born with an abundance of, this is why we have such plump soft skin and silky hair when we are young. As we age, our Silica level begins to diminish also. Seriously, does anything good come from growing up!? WTF? By drinking cucumber water you are fueling your intake of Silica which helps with maintaining moisture in your skin and enhances collagen production for healthy outer skin cell layers! Cucumbers are also incredibly soothing so they help calm irritations and inflammation for rosacea and acne!

Apple Cider Vinegar: Alright. I’ve talked about this before topically (click here), and although I was against it for consumption… I was also an idiot and taking straight shots of it. ACV is actually insanely beneficial for cleansing your liver. It is amazing how important our internal organs are when it comes down to skin issues. Adding a tea spoon of ACV to an 8oz glass of water can actually do wonders for you. It is extremely purifying to your body and helps detox your toxins in a safe and balanced way. It does not taste good…. but like, get over it. You’ll be fine.

Listen people, if you’re anything like me, finding time or desire to sit around and eat fruit all day is hard. If you’re not anything like me and love sitting around and eating fruit all day then good for you PRINCESS, this will be even easier for you! Basically, all fruits hold some sort of nutritious and beneficial property. If you enjoy the fruit, put it in your water bottle for the day! Not only does it make your beverage taste amazing, but it is fueling your body in a positive way with every sip you take. It weirdly makes you feel pretty good about yourself, as if you're donating to a charity or something every time you take a drink. Some fun tips I like to do is freeze smaller fruit pieces such as blueberries, apple slices, strawberries etc and use them as "ice cubes"! Great for wine too... but you didn’t hear that from me.

XOXO. Stay hydrated and colorful!

Peace.Love&Beauty
