Like I have said before and I will say forever, Essential Oils are EVERYTHING. They are proof that plants hold amazing and extremely powerful healing benefits. Essential oils are on the rise, but unfortunately education on how to use them properly, is not. We live in a society where we want fast results and refuse to follow the “less is more” rule. Trust me, I understand. I struggle with this rule often in life and I learn my lesson every damn time. (Besides when it comes to sprinkles and cheese. I’m sorry, but I’ve never ate something that had an abundance of either that made my experience less desirable.) Fortunately, it is not UNfortunate that this rule goes perfectly with Essential Oils. That little dropper bottle ends up going a LONG, LONG way and who isn’t looking to save a pretty penny these days?
-Why Essential Oils Need Diluting-
EO’s are more powerful than our modern medicine corrupt minds are willing to grasp. These oils are highly concentrated and one little drop has the ability to do its intended job exactly as it should. It’s actually pretty fascinating. Whether using Essential oils for internal or external benefits, dilution is very important. These oils are so powerful in fact, that it could actually be HARMFUL to use too much. And we thought getting alcohol poisoning was embarrassing back in the day, can you imagine…? So you’re sitting there wondering, “HOW THE F IS THREE DROPS OF LAVENDER OIL SUPPOSED TO COVER MY ENTIRE BODY!?” A.) Settle down, you’re being really aggressive right now and B.) THAT is where carrier oils come into play! To ensure that “little goes a long way” idea, carrier oils literally CARRY your EO further! The best part is, carrier oils are filled with beautifying benefits as is!
Here is a quick reference chart you should follow when using EO’s on your skin

-What is a carrier oil?-
A carrier oil is a vegetable oil that comes from the fatty portion of the plant. Often, you may even see them be referred to as just “Vegetable oil” or “base oil” in your recipes. Does this mean you go slather your Cisco baking pan oil all over your body… no. This means, that in that specific Essential Oil remedy, you need to DILUTE it with a certain carrier oil of your choice. You can use base oils alone for a number of different beauty benefits, OR add essential oils to intensity them. It really all depends on your targeted concern. For instance, Coconut Oil is a carrier oil. You can apply it all over your body by itself, or you can add a few drops of Rosemary EO to target Cellulite, or Lavender EO to target stretch marks… or both! Once you are aware of certain Carrier Oils and Essential Oils, along with their benefits, you have the potential to create so many things that are perfect to your needs!
*Here is a very quick reference to some common Carrier Oils and their main benefits!

Especially for things such as body lotion, I like to always change my carrier oils up depending on the weather and which skin problem I’m most obsessed with that month. Sometimes I am obsessed with trying to look young forever, sometimes I’m obsessed with hydration and sometimes I’m obsessed with acne or scarring. Okay, I lied, I’m always obsessed with all of those…. sue me. I just like to pick a new focus every once in awhile and play around! Seriously, my bathroom looks like a science lab... which matches nicely with my mad scientist hair every morning.
Have fun my little oil chemists!
